I went to get my check engine light fixed, do the TDI emissions fix, and get my recalled airbag replaced. I dropped my car off at 7:30am and they refused to let me rent a car because I'm 24 years old, even though I was willing to pay extra for being under 25 years old. Also, part of the VW emissions fix deal is that I am supposed to get a loaner car free of charge. But instead they made me take their service shuttle back to my house, where I was without a car for over 27 hours and had to find a way to get back the next day.

My car was there for 8 hours before they called me with a diagnosis on the check engine light. Knowing that I couldn't get my emissions scandal fix without fixing my check engine light, they tried charging me 11.5X the cost of the part I needed replaced, which happened to be a part associated with emissions. They were already mechanically going into the emissions because of the VW scandal I've been put through, and yet they were still charging thousands of dollars extra and tried justifying it because I'm getting some money back for the emissions scandal, so apparently it's ok to be charged thousands of dollars for a filter.

On top of that, this part would have been under warranty if my car had 900 miles less, OR it would be warrantied under the extended warranty I get after the emissions fix I went to the dealer for in the first place.

After keeping my car for 27 hours they did not fill my fuel tank, did not wash my car because they didn't want to bother with taking off a Velcro decoration I have on my rear wiper, charged me $130 just to diagnose my engine light without doing anything to fix it......... AND I still have my old driver side recalled airbag, that when deployed could seriously injure or kill me.

If I ever decide to get a VW again, I'm driving the 1 extra hour to the Hartford dealership, where they at least gave me a free loaner vehicle. This North Haven dealership kept telling me they tried to get my warranty forgiven, and that it was corporate VW's fault, but the absurd overcharge on the labor and terrible customer service is what made this experience so unpleasant. Maybe I'll trade my VW in for a Honda.
